One food that Hanna always took with her when traveling was sage sandwiches. Sage is a brain food; the butter and heavy rye bread are also very nourishing and energy-rich. Rudolf would make up a bunch of sandwiches for her. She would pull them out and eat them anywhere: at the airport, on the plane, and during class breaks.
good hearty rye bread
softened butter
chopped fresh sage (you could also use dried sage)
Spread the butter on the bread, sprinkle with lots of sage and serve with soup and lettuce salad.
